Hashtag…you’re it! Twitter search and “hashtags”

I have been using Twitter for quite some time now. However, still I am not an expert by any means. I might qualify as an advanced beginner. Like many new sources of information, it can be overwhelming sorting the useful from the tedious. When I came across an interesting video tutorial about searching Twitter, it lead me to look into hashtags that relate to education and libraries. A hashtag is a tag of sorts in a tweet that makes tweets easier to search and sort. Watch the Commoncraft video on Twitter Searches “In Plain English” as it explains it very nicely. On “hashtags.org,” hashtags are defined as:

“The # symbol, called a hashtag, is used to mark keyword or topic in a Tweet. Any Twitter user can categorize or follow topics with hashtags.”
